Dealer Script: HOW TO USE THE DEMONSTRATION VERSION OF PRESENTER PROFESSIONAL 3.0
Presenter Professional 3.0 is a single product consisting of two modules, ModelPro for 3D spline-based modeling and Presenter for rendering and animation. ModelPro and Presenter can be purchased separately for use with other 3D modeling, rendering, and animation software.
Hardware Configuration Guide: Apple Power Macintosh or Apple 680x0 Macintosh with a minimum of 8Mb RAM and 10Mb of free hard disk space.
Setup: Transfer the VIDI folder to your hard disk. Double-click on the Segment.1 icon to install the demonstration version of the Presenter Professional 3.0 software.
PRESENTER PROFESSIONAL 3.0
Presenter Professional 3.0 is the 3D Multimedia Digital Desktop Studio solution that combines the capabilities of a virtual video production studio, film sound stage, and on-location shoot for producers of broadcast film, video, and multimedia scenes and animations. Presenter Professional 3.0 delivers a new dimension in multimedia animation, live action, and sound. Its TrueSound capability provides a virtual 3-D audio environment that enables you to position an unlimited number of TrueSound microphones and speakers throughout a 3D scene. This provides realistic sound effects like stereo, "wraparound sound", and the "Doppler effect" associated with the sound a train makes with its whistle blowing as it comes from a distance and passes you by. Its TrueAnimation™ features like Gravity, Collision, Tracking, and Human Motion make animation and natural motion a snap. With TrueProjection™, you are able to project QuickTime movies with sound on any moving or stationary object.
PRESENTER PROFESSIONAL 3.0 TUTORIALS
Let's take a journey to the world of 3-D modeling. Presenter Professional 3.0 provides CAD accuracy without being laborious to use. It is as intuitive as FreeHand® and Illustrator® for design and on the Power Macintosh, it flies. Presenter Professional 3.0's new modeling module, ModelPro, has added Booleans and Beveling to its Digital Clay™ sculpting capability. It's these new features that we are going to introduce you to.
BOOLEAN TUTORIAL
In this tutorial, you will use two perpendicular cutters to cut out holes in a box.
Double-click on the ModelPro icon.
Open the Boolean.mdl file.
Click on the Cube 1 name in the Groups palette located at the top-right of the screen.
Click on the Boolean tool. It is the 11th one down on the right tool column. Its icon looks like a shaded circle with a bite taken out.
Holding the Shift key, click on the Cylinder 1 and Cube 2 names in the Groups palette.
Double-click in any window to do the cut. Pretty fast, wasn’t it?
Click on the Hand Tool, 2nd tool down in the left tool column, and move the cursor to the shaded 3-D window. Click and drag to re-position the object. See if you can position it so you can look through the holes cut in the side and front of the box.
Select Quit under the File Menu.
BEVEL TUTORIAL
In this tutorial, you will easily turn a letter into a 3D logo. Double-click on the ModelPro icon to start. Open the Text.mdl file.
Click on the Bevel Extrude Tool, the tenth one down on the left column of the tool palette, the one that looks like an "L". Click on the letter in the Front View.
Notice the automatic bevel. Click on the Edit box at the top left of the screen. A Modify Bevel dialog appears. Click, hold and drag the points to make a new bevel style. Click on the OK at the bottom-right of the window. Now click on Bevel at the top-right of the screen. Select Re-display under the Edit Menu to redraw the shaded letter.
Go to the Edit Menu and select Undo. Click on the Arrow tool and click on the letter. Click and hold on the current bevel style at the top of the screen to get the pop-up and try using and modifying the other bevel choices.
To see what type of freeform models have bee created with Presenter Professional 3.0, open and select Arabian Horse, Car, and Grasshopper in the Demo Models folder using the Open command in the File Menu.
Select Quit under the File Menu.

3D SOUND, ANIMATION, AND LIVE PROJECTION TUTORIAL
Presenter Professional 3.0 provides event-based, timeline animation with multiple camera edits, 3D sound recording, natural motion effects, plus 3D projection of live action. Rendering includes ray tracing, Phong, Red/Blue Stereo, and Stereoscopic rendering plus direct RenderMan shader editing and rendering.
In this tutorial, you will set up and play four simultaneous movies that show the integrated animation, projection, and sound effects that Presenter Professional 3.0 offers.
To start, decompress the SoundBounce.sea, Blur&Proj.sea, and Doppler.sea files by double-clicking on their icons.
Make sure that the system sound is turned on for full effect. Double-click on the Presenter icon. If you get the message, "Where is the Anchor file?". open the Presenter Plug-ins folder in the dialog box and click on the Open button.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter Select the SoundBounce.pqt file
Click and hold on the title bar of the SoundBounce window and drag it to the bottom-left of the screen.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter. Select the DopplerTrain.pqt file
Click and hold on the title bar of the DopplerTrain window and drag it to the bottom right of the screen.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter. Select the MotionBlurSample.pqt file
Click and hold on the title bar of the MotionBlurSample window and drag it to the top left of the screen.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter. Select the ProjectorSample.pqt file
Click and hold on the title bar of the ProjectorSample window and drag it to the top right of the screen.
Note: The button at the top left of the movie window, the one with the arrow pointing to the
right, can be toggled to allow for continuous and reverse playing of the movie.
Click on the video control at the bottom left of the window you placed at the upper left to start the movie. This movie shows the effect of using MacRenderMan's motion blur effect.
Click on the video control of the window you placed at the upper right to start the movie. This movie shows the ability to integrate 3-D animation with existing movies and images. The captured image was projected in different positions on the background and was automatically inbetweened. Observe the effect through the red ball.
Click on the video control of the window you placed at the lower left to start the movie. This movie shows the integration of camera movement, background sound, animation, and the sound each ball makes as it hits the stairs. To accomplish this, the appropriate sound icons and the "Collision", and "Gravity" plug-ins are dragged into the object folder at the time specified on the "time line" chart. Click twice in the button at the top-left of the movie window to reverse the movie.
Click on the video control of the window you placed at the lower right to start the movie. This movie demonstrates Presenter Professional 3.0's "TrueSound™ feature". As the train passes you by, you hear the simulated impact of the "Doppler effect".
While the objects used in this tutorial were simple, they should give you some ideas as to what we mean when we say that Presenter Professional 3.0 is a 3D Multimedia Digital Desktop Studio.

DISPLAY TUTORIAL
Presenter Professional 3.0 provides the ability to create complex, freeform shapes and photorealistically images. In this tutorial, you will see for yourself the quality of the work that can be produced..
To start, double-click on the Presenter icon.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter.
Select the 1. VIDI MM file. This displays the type of 3D logos you can create with Presenter Professional 3.0.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter.
Select the 2. Syd file. Syd Mead, designer of scenes and vehicles in movies like Tron, Star Trek I, Aliens, Short Circuit, and Time Cops is shown with a design of the "Spinner Vehicle" from the movie Bladerunner.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter.
Select the 3. Lloyd file. Lloyd Walker designed the space shots used by NASA to present to President Clinton and Congress to get approval for future space exploration.
Select "Open Image/Movie" under the File Menu in Presenter.
Select the 4. Images file. These demonstrate the quality of imaging that can be done with Presenter Professional 3.0
Select Quit under the File Menu.
ANIMATION TUTORIAL
Presenter Professional provides a natural stage environment and animation plug-ins to make creating animations easier. In this tutorial you will see a figure walk automatically and observe how cameras and lights work.
To start, double-click on the Presenter icon.
Select Open under the File Menu in Presenter and choose the Chip Walk file.
Click in the Video Start button in the upper-right area of the screen and make Chip walk automatically in the Camera Window. Click on the green button on the right to make him stop. Hold the Option key down and click again in the Video Start button. Notice the movement in all four windows. Click on the Green button to make him stop. Drag the slider at the bottom of the Camera Window all the way to the left.
Double click on the name Chip near the top-left of the screen. The Human Motion plug-in Animator is what makes Chip walk without the help of an animator. Additional animation affects like Gravity, Collision, and Tracking will be supplied with the software.
Move the mouse down to any one of the windows. You will notice a sun, a camera, and a spotlight position in all the windows. Click and hold on the spotlight. Notice the lines that come out to show the beam of the light. Look in the Camera Window to see where the spot actually falls.
Select Quit under the File Menu.
